Vhandar Merchandise Private Limited ("Vhandar", "we") runs the Vhandar website and apps. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It works together with our Terms of Use. Questions? Email us at support@vhandar.com.
1. Information You Give Us
- Your account: name, mobile number, email address and password. We store passwords only in a securely hashed form, never as plain text.
- Delivery addresses: the addresses you save, including the map pin you place, and the receiver's name and phone number.
- Orders: what you buy, the delivery option and time you choose, delivery notes and instructions, any tip, and your payment method (Cash on Delivery). We don't collect card or bank details.
- Business accounts: business name, category, VAT or PAN number, business email, phone and address, and logo, so we can verify your business.
- Family members: the mobile number you enter to find a family member on Vhandar. They are linked only after they accept.
- Lists and alerts: the shopping lists you create and the products you ask us to notify you about when back in stock.
- Messages to us: feedback, product suggestions, and anything you send to customer support, including photos.
2. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage and device: pages you visit, what you search for, your browser and device type, and your IP address.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used and to fix problems. Clarity records interactions such as clicks, scrolls and page movements; we don't use it to collect what you type into forms.
- Location: only when you allow it, to place your address on the map or find stores near you. You can turn it off in your browser or device settings.
- Camera: only when you use barcode scanning. Scanning happens on your device; the camera image isn't uploaded.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and secure your account, and send one-time codes to verify it.
- To take, prepare and deliver your orders, or have them ready for pickup.
- To show you the right prices, delivery options and time windows for your address.
- To offer features you ask for: saved lists, reorder, family accounts, business accounts and back-in-stock alerts.
- To answer your questions, handle returns and resolve problems.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal obligations.
4. Who We Share It With
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:
- Our delivery partners: your name, phone number and delivery address, to deliver your order.
- Service providers who work for us: text-message (SMS) and email providers for codes and notifications, Google Maps for addresses, our cloud hosting and storage, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for analytics. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
- When the law requires it: for example, in response to a court order or a request from a government authority.
5. Keeping It Safe and How Long We Keep It
Information you send us is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and only staff who need it can see your details. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you of a breach where the law requires it.
We keep your information while your account is open and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including our legal, tax and accounting obligations. After that we delete or anonymise it.
6. Browser Storage and Cookies
We keep your sign-in session and a few preferences (such as dark mode, Veg Mode and your delivery or pickup choice) in your browser's storage so the site works as you expect. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies. You can clear these in your browser settings; you will then be signed out and your preferences reset.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- See and correct: update your profile and saved addresses at any time in your account.
- Delete your account: from Account → Profile, or by emailing us.
- Ask us: for a copy of your information, or to stop a particular use of it, email support@vhandar.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
Vhandar is for people aged 18 or over, or younger people with a parent's or guardian's consent. We don't knowingly collect information from children without that consent.
9. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, contact our Chief Technology Officer, Subarna Bhandari, at support@vhandar.com. We will look into it and reply as quickly as we can.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our services change; the date at the top shows the latest change. If a change is significant, we will let you know on the website.
